A proclaiming that you might have perhaps heard a great deal operational, in sports, and human performance in general is manipulating the controllable. What does that really mean? I wanted to adopt this concept of manipulating the controllable, which can be actually fantastic advice by the way, and take it out from the arena of as a cliché and to the an entire world of something we can actually do.
In our workshops we'll use something known as the CIA Model to help students gain knowledge of this concept minimizing stress in their own individual lives. It's pretty easy to understand this model so here's the short form.
CIA stands for Control Influence Accept. All of the circumstances and situations that we find inside ourselves will get into one of these simple three categories. I am going to discuss them back order.
There is definitely an enormous amount of things in your world that people simply need to accept. Weather, traffic patterns, scores and outcomes of games that people're not actually playing in. One of the best things that we can do for your own reassurance is the fact that when there's something we must accept, is actually simply to accept it not waste any injury looking to change it.
The second category are things that we influence. The two big items that fall into this will be the immediate environment, your vehicle, your workplace, your home, and folks that you deal with. Listen, do not have complete control over our youngsters, our colleagues, etc, but we all do have influence over them, and something of the best things that you're able to do for your growth is in circumstances that you have influence to truly exercise that influence will dramatically improve your self-esteem.
Now we arrive at the category of things we could control. We're here to speak about controlling the controllable. Well, guess what happens, folks? I've found there's really just one thing one of several things that individuals can control. It's your decisions.
That's right, your decisions about your lifetime are the only thing we already have direct control over. When you realize this, it becomes type of confronting and kind of liberating all simultaneously. What do you do using this information, the only thing that I have complete control over would be the decisions that I make?
Stop looking to control issues that you've got no control over. Amazing in my experience how much energy people waste attempting to control stuff that they maybe have influence over, but in many cases should just accept. I'll also point out that in terms of things that you might have zero influence over, I wouldn't spend long talking or complaining about them. It's simply a drain on the energy. Are you catching yourself attempting to control issues that you want to just accept? Notice that, and I would change your mind on that.
When you realize that the only thing you have complete control over is the decisions, take responsibility to the decision-making process. I'm not saying to blame yourself when things come out poorly. I am saying it will require responsibility for that decision that you make. That's when you commence controlling the controllables and seeing the final results that you really be interested in.
I don't play a whole lot of poker, but one thing that I have heard is that winning at cards, specifically poker, features a small amount regarding the cards which you are dealt, and it has a huge amount regarding how you make decisions and play website them that you just're dealt. Same thing applies to your health. Life truly is 10 percent how are you affected to us and 90 percent the way you react.
I hope which you have enjoyed learning about governing the controllables.
